@matt I played this once! I think I settled on a water-heavy world with no metals. We did OK.

@Ted I'm always trying to recreate the first time I played, where I settled a planet that had stone age life already, lost most scientific knowledge, ended up on relatively equal footing with the life already there, and settled into a multi-species self-actualized utopia. I have never done so well since.

@matt somewhat related, I just started reading Arthur Clarke's "Childhood's end". I've heard it's one of his weaker entries but I want to find out for sure. It, or perhaps Rendezvous with Rama, would be a good companion piece to seed ship.

@Ted Huh yeah. I guess interstellar diplomacy has to be especially tricky, since even just talking to an alien risks extinction
